Criminal FAQs

1. When should I hire an attorney?

ANSWER: As soon as possible after discovering that you have been or will be charged with a crime. There are many reasons for this; namely, so that you and your lawyer will have sufficient time to prepare your defense. Additionally, bondsmen will typically offer a discount when posting a bond for a person already represented by counsel.

2. Should I meet with an investigator or other law enforcement officer concerning the charges against me?

ANSWER: You should obtain representation to assist you in deciding whether or not to meet with law enforcement concerning your case, and if so, to accompany you to that meeting.

3. How long does a criminal case take to complete?

ANSWER: There is no set amount of time to complete a case. Ongoing discovery of information, negotiations with prosecutors, and trial preparation, make it impossible to determine exactly when it will be finished.

4. Is it required that I hire a lawyer for my case?

ANSWER: Although it is not required for a criminal defendant to resolve their case with the services of an attorney, it is generally in your best interest to do so. An experienced attorney can offer suggestions for a successful resolution of your case of which you may not be aware. It is important that these options be presented by somebody acting in your best interest.

5. How much does it cost to retain your services?

ANSWER: For most criminal cases, we charge flat fees to obtain a successful non-contested resolution of the matter. In the event a trial becomes necessary, additional fees are charged. All fees are clearly explained and set forth in our standard Fee Agreement. There are no hidden or surprise charges. Our office takes MasterCard, Visa, and Discover Card to assist clients with their investment in legal representation.
